Her Passion

Dorota Bednarek centred her life around her passion, and this, from her youngest age. When we observe or approach Dorota, we notice quickly that she lives and breathes through the painting and that this passion confers her a profound sentiment to exist: " if we can say that each of us has a role to play on the Planet Earth, mine is undoubtly bound to the painting ", she precises".
This seemingly fragile artist, hidden under a shy voice and a golden hair straight from fairy tales is in fact a subtle mixture of sweetness and fury, an explosive sensibility. Her paintings show us romantic characters, loving embraces, the materials she used, such as stones, shine, gleam, we are suddenly surrounded by a sort of tenderness, then we notice these big thick layers of painting, these drips of bright or sombre colors, their spreading on the painting, which remind us suddenly that the world is also dark and devastating but that Love will conquer. What would you like to say to people who discover or look at your artworks ?
My paintings are like big windows opening on a better world which can become yours, only if you are sensitive. They are personal and precise settings of the light, the materials and the color. The role of an artist is to draw attention on what we do not notice any more in the chaos of the everyday life. The beautiful things of the life, in which we believed when we are a child. That Good and Beauty exist. The feelings and the reflection guide me in my work. To prepare a painting I look around me, I choose materials which seduce me by their beauty and colors. I listen my internal child side who is amazed in front of a blade of grass, a leaf which I collect on the ground. All this, find their place in my paintings. I bring them to light, restore their importance. Through the painting, I try to connect with the sensibility of each person, with the emotional part, sometimes buried, that we forget, like this child who lived inside us. I think that happiness is a way to see the world simply, as a child who is every day amazed of all these little gifts of life. The images appearing in my paitnings are the imprint of life . They tell a story which can be yours or can become yours. My painting belongs to me only during the action of painting. It is you who give it a sense, by appropriating " the story" and who make it alive, with time thanks to the emotion that it gives you..

.What is the art of painting for you ?
My painting is my way to communicate with the world, to express what I think, I feel, what I see and what I would like other people to see. When prudishness take away the words or when the words are not enough any more or can not explain something, I fill in this space with my paintings. My painting allows me to let the child hidden inside me to come out. Be Amazed , be happy, feel - remain alive. it creates an harmony between me and all the people moved and touched by my paintings, it gives me a signification to my life, a reason for living.

How do you define your work ?
I could say between abstract and figurative because the two cohabit in my paintings. But I don't want people to label my work. My art is me, and we are all unique beings!
