Training
Artist and painter born in Monaco in 1976, Toby Wright follows a part of his schooling in England where he studies illustration. In 1999, he moves to Florence and follows courses at the `Florence Academy Art' in order to perfect his artistic skills. Two years later, he becomes a teacher of this academy while continuing its training. Very quickly, he becomes one of the principal teachers in painting, then leads the program of drawing of the sculpture department. Since 2006, he is exclusively devoted to teach painting to the most talented students.

Art
Toby Wright paints his landscapes and portraits with a traditional pallet, inspired by the artworks of Masters such as Velázquez, Rembrandt, Bougereau... He always paints in the nature or from life.
"Only in front of Nature, attentive to it, one is impregnated of its magnificence, close to break its mystery. By remaining humble in front of Nature and listening to it, one can hope to find its essence, to compose it, interpret it, to make tangible this reality via art painting."

Art is the expression of invisible by visible means
"In my realistic paintings, the subject is the focal point. But each painting is a very personal conversation between the artist and thesubject, during one moment or a particular place. Because the subject is selected for multiple reasons. Abstracted impression, harmony of the colors, a light, feelings personal towards the subject. Contrary to imposed external criteria, it is the emotion of the artist that will be the energy for the creation of a significant artwork. When the spectator is invited to attend this dialogue between artist and subject, these people can take part, and feel the experiments of the artist. If they take time to look at it, then, the painting becomes more than a simple superficial description. It joins together spectator, artist and subject. It joins together the worlds of realism and abstraction, the solid and visible elements with what is not highlighted. The work to reconcile these two opposite worlds is what pushes me to paint, to join together the visible and the invisible, the naturalness and spirituality." Toby Wright.

Point of view
"One painting was enough to understand the approach of this artist. In the paintings of Toby Wright, we find all the emotions of classical paintings. The lines, the shades and the lights, drawn with care, quickly plunge us in the universe of the painting. His brush is realistic and obviously magic. His characters, fixed in the canvas, are incredibly alive, one can almost smell them, hear them
breathe, they speak to us, look at us, they move. Have they a secrecy to hide or on the contrary to reveal? with you to judge. But one thing is sure they have emotions to share. " C. Galipot
