Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo mostly known as
Corneille was, with Karel Appel, Constant, Christian Dotremont, Asger Jorn, the founder of the CoBra art Movement. The name of this avant-garde movement comes from the first letters of cities Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam. Opposed to the art movements of the time, they sought spontaneity, exuberance, experimentation, freedom, inspired by, among other things, ancient myths, children expression, primitive art forms.
